DOMESTIC SYNOPSIS ONLY On a December morning in 1970, the King of Rock ’n Roll showed up on the lawn of the White House to request a meeting with the most powerful man in the world, President Nixon. Starring Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon (Best Supporting Actor, Revolutionary Road, 2008) as Elvis Presley and two-time Academy Award® winner Kevin Spacey (Best Actor, American Beauty, 1999 and Best Supporting Actor, The Usual Suspects, 1995) as Richard Nixon, comes the untold true story behind this revealing, yet humorous moment in the Oval Office, forever immortalized in the most requested photograph in the National Archives.
A feel good movie, Michael Shannon playing Elvis did a great job even though he did not look like him, Kevin Spacey did a good Nixon also. As a kid from the 70's I am a fan of both Elvis and Nixon, the humor in this movie is what I liked, I would imagine the real meeting between these two went very similar to this rendition!
I saw this movie in theaters a few weeks ago, and I thought it was hilarious. Prior to seeing the movie, I had taken a trip to Graceland and it was cool seeing some of the rooms from his house in the movie. Although Michael Shannon doesn't really look like Elvis, he was full of the King's charisma and it really showed through in his performance. Kevin Spacey perfectly potrayed Nixon. Much of the humor came from the supporting cast. I really liked this film and recommend it to any Elvis fan.
